Our read
The most interesting thing about Malik Davis right now is not his role, it's the run on him. His ADP climbed from 170.2 to 163.5 in the five days before September 10, and that feels like leagues drafting the depth chart, not the production. He played 9 games last season, averaged 4.5 points a game, and cleared 15 points in exactly zero of them. Best week of the year: 11.7.
The role is the problem. He sat second on the depth chart as of September 4 behind Javonte Williams and Hunter Luepke, and last year that job came with a 21.4% snap share and a 1.5% target share. That's spot duty with no receiving work, which is why our number sits at 40 points, RB87, seven and a half under what running backs taken around his ADP have historically produced. He scored 41 total in 2025. There is no number on this sheet that says a breakout is coming.
And the games risk is real. We project him for 10 with a range of 3 to 16, and last season he didn't appear until week 8, sat out seven healthy weeks, then landed on the injury report with a calf after week 17. He's 27.8 and undrafted, so nobody is developing him on purpose. My call: he's a reach at 163. Let him fall to pick 262 or beyond, or just leave him and stream the matchup if Williams ever misses time.
