Our read

The whole case here is the 5 expected games. Our number has him at 37 season points because that's all the playing time the projection sees him getting, and once you stretch the range for injury luck it's 0 to 11 games. He's listed second among JAX quarterbacks behind Trevor Lawrence, so the path to volume only opens if something happens to the guy in front of him. You cannot draft for a scenario like that in August. Wait and grab him off waivers the week the scenario actually arrives.

What he showed in 2025 doesn't argue for more. Four appearances, 8.3 points a game, one week above the position's weekly median, and a worst week of 2.12 back in week 7. His best was 15.98, which is a streaming win at absolute best. Four touches all season, with a red-zone share of just 25% of those, means the usage was thin even when he was on the field. The receiving line sits at -6 yards and the average target traveled -6.0 yards down the field, so nothing in his profile hints at a spike week hiding in there.

The one thing that didn't change is the scheme. Liam Coen is still calling it and Grant Udinski is still the play caller, so if Lawrence does miss time, Ewers steps into a system he already knows and an offense that passed on 59% of neutral plays. That's the only reason he's worth a roster spot at all. Our number puts him at QB51 and 372 overall, and he's going around pick 347 anyway. Let someone else spend the pick. If you want a late dart at quarterback, take almost anyone else, or just skip the third quarterback entirely.
